Sea Level Rise Tribal Cultural Resources Funding Program Opens!

OPC is pleased to announce the release of the Sea Level Rise (SLR) Tribal Cultural Resources Funding Program, a new funding opportunity under the SB 1 SLR Adaptation Planning Grant Program. This program is specifically designed to support California Native American tribes—both federally recognized and non-federally recognized (via a nonprofit partner)—in assessing and planning for the impacts of SLR on cultural resources, ancestral lands, and lifeways.

The program offers flexible, non-competitive funding for tribal-led projects focused on community visioning, data collection, vulnerability assessments, and the development of adaptation strategies. It also supports tribal engagement in regional and local planning processes, without requiring land ownership or the development of a land use plan. Projects are anticipated to be between $250,000 and $750,000.

Please visit the SLR Tribal Cultural Resources Funding Program webpage for more information and check out the full SLR Tribal Cultural Resources Funding Solicitation for complete details on eligibility, priority project types, and how to apply.
