2026-2030 Strategic Plan


The Ocean Protection Council (OPC) is initiating a public process to inform OPC’s 2026-2030 Strategic Plan. The new Strategic Plan will guide OPC’s work to protect California’s coast and ocean over the next five years, building from the current 2020-2025 Strategic Plan.

A draft 2026-2030 Strategic Plan will be released in late Spring 2025 for written public comment. Please share your priorities to inform this draft Strategic Plan using the form below by 11:59 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025 (Extended Deadline).

Public Listening Sessions

In-person Listening Session Schedule  

In-person listening sessions will be held across the state to inform the draft 2026-2030 Strategic Plan. Please register for the listening session(s) you plan to attend. Please note important access and transportation information on the registration form.  

Each listening session will begin with an introductory presentation, although members of the public are welcome to attend at any time during the two-hour listening sessions.

Timeline

  • Fall-Winter 2024-2025: Public listening sessions and separate tribally focused roundtables to solicit recommendations on strategic plan priorities.
  • Late Spring – Summer 2025: Release first draft and open public comment; host webinar(s) on the draft strategic plan. Tribal consultation on the draft plan. Present and receive Council and public feedback during the June 10, 2025 OPC Meeting.
  • November 2025: Release final Strategic Plan.
  • December 2025: Consideration of approval at the December 9, 2025 OPC Meeting.
